Fjord Norway is a region of deep blue fjords, flowing waterfalls, and sharp, snow-capped mountains that tower high above the water.
Few regions are as striking as Fjord Norway. In this landscape created by a succession of ice ages, the next fjord arm and waterfall is never far away. Two of the fjords, the Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord are even included on UNESCO's prestigious World Heritage List.
However, Fjord Norway offers a lot more than views and waterfalls. Along the coast, you'll find solitary islands and thriving coastal communities, as well as some of Norway's most fascinating towns and cities.
You can also explore a rich and diverse tradition of local culinary specialities, reflecting what was possible to grow in each place.
Travelling around in this natural wonderland of fjords and mountains is an experience in itself, with ten spectacular scenic routes to drive and three of the world's most beautiful rail journeys. Allow plenty of time or concentrate on one part of the region.
Tourists from all over the world have Fjord Norway on their wish list, and for a good reason. If you prefer to visit the region and its many attractions without the crowds, be sure to go in autumn, winter or spring during the so-called Viking season.
